Kristen Hood

Kristen uses a collaborative, person-centered approach which means that, even though sessions typically have structured activities, there is still room for flexibility based on the client’s progress and feedback. She believes that cultivating inherent purpose and meaning are essential components of wellness and encourages conversation around spirituality and life’s big questions.

Kristen uses a variety of therapy techniques based on the individual needs and goals of her clients. The primary therapeutic models are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). This means that sessions are primarily focused on identifying and practicing solutions to patterns such as overthinking, self-sabotaging, and behavioral issues.

Change is scary and hard - even for adults! Kristen acknowledges that clients may have histories, traumas, or just plain old bad days. All of these impact how motivated and engaged clients are to change. With this in mind, Kristen incorporates techniques such as trauma focused CBT, grief activities, mindfulness, progressive muscle relaxation, art, play, and movement into session as needed.
