Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on method of releasing restrictions in the body to enhance overall health and wellness.

Craniosacral Therapy was developed by Dr. John Upledger, an Osteopathic physician. The craniosacral system consists of membranes filled with cerebrospinal fluid which surrounds, protects and nourishes the brain and spinal cord. For proper functioning and health of the body the cerebrospinal fluid should flow in rhythmic waves, without restriction around the cranium and run the entire length of the spinal cord to the sacrum. Stress and strain of everyday life causes restriction and change in body tissue. This restriction creates tension around the brain and spinal cord which disrupts the flow and rhythm of fluid. Restrictions in the flow, allow for accumulation of toxins and  have a negative impact on the central nervous system and potentially every other system effecting our overall health.

Through a gentle hands-on approach, craniosacral practitioners bring the body back to balance and calm the nervous system by releasing restriction in the soft tissue. By normalizing the environment around the brain and spinal cord and supporting the body's natural self-healing ability, this therapeutic approach strengthens the immune system, reduces pain, balances emotions and enhances overall wellness.
